Sort lines alphabetically

For teams preparing names, tasks or records for comparison, Sort rows puts every line in alphabetical order before the next step.

Arrange lines alphabetically and get an ordered list that is easier to scan, compare and reuse. You get the result directly in your browser.

How to use

  1. Paste or type the lines you want to sort, keeping one value on each line.
  2. Select the sorting mode: alphabetical, numeric, by length or natural order.
  3. Enable the ignore case option when uppercase letters should not affect the ranking.
  4. Run the sort to receive the reordered list immediately.
  5. Review the first and last lines, then copy the result for your next step.

Example

To clean up a fruit list entered out of order, you paste banana, apple, pineapple and cherry, then run an alphabetical sort. Check that every line is kept once and that the order matches the criterion you selected.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between alphabetical and natural order?

Alphabetical sorting compares characters one by one, while natural order handles embedded numbers more sensibly, such as item 2 before item 10. Choose based on the kind of list you have.

Why are my numbers sorted incorrectly?

Alphabetical mode may place 10 before 2 because it compares characters. Use numeric sorting when each line contains a number that the tool can interpret as a value.

Are empty lines kept in the result?

They may appear in the output and affect readability. Remove them before sorting if you want a compact list, or check their position after the operation.
