Clean extra spaces from every line

For teams receiving unevenly spaced text before an import or paste, Clean Whitespace makes every line consistent and ready to process.

Trim stray spaces from each line and leave a consistent block of text ready to copy or process. You get the result directly in your browser.

How to use

  1. Paste the text you want to clean into the input area, or import a text, CSV, JSON, Markdown, XML or YAML file.
  2. Choose the cleanups you need, such as spaces at the start and end of lines, repeated spaces or tabs.
  3. Run the cleanup to get a result where every line is made consistent according to the selected options.
  4. Review the result, copy it into your document or program, then clear the area if the text is sensitive.

Example

The sample text contains spaces before and after some lines, repeated spaces between words and a tab character. After running the cleanup, check whether line beginnings and endings are clean and whether internal spacing still reads correctly.

Input

  first line
 second line
	third line

Output

first line
second line
third line

Where processing happens

The cleanup runs locally in your browser. The text you paste or import stays on your device and is not sent anywhere. This makes the tool suitable for internal notes or work data that you prefer not to transmit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove only trailing spaces at the end of lines?

Yes, if you select the matching option in the interface. You can combine several cleanups, but check the result so you do not remove spacing that is still needed.

Does the tool keep empty lines?

That depends on the options you enable. If empty lines must remain visible, inspect the result before copying the text, because some cleanups may change them.

Can I clean code or a CSV file?

You can paste or import such content, but be careful: removing all spaces or converting tabs can break indentation, a delimiter or a column structure.
