Replace text everywhere at once

For editors updating a repeated term across a draft, export or list, Search and Replace applies the revision to every occurrence.

Find a word or phrase and replace every occurrence at once, so broad edits do not leave old wording behind. No upload or storage is involved.

Search and replace run in your browser. The text you paste or import stays on your device and is not sent to an external service. You can edit a document without transmitting it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace only the first occurrence?

Yes, the tool offers an option to limit the replacement to the first occurrence. Use it when you only want to correct one passage. Then check the result to make sure the other occurrences remain unchanged.

Is regular expression mode difficult to use?

It takes some practice because certain characters have a special meaning. Start with a simple pattern and test it on a small excerpt. If the result is too broad, adjust the pattern before processing the whole text.

Are uppercase and lowercase letters considered?

In exact mode, letter case matters by default. You can enable the option to ignore case if you want to replace uppercase and lowercase in the same way. Always review the final result.
