Reduce a PDF's size for faster sharing

People and teams exchanging large attachments save time when an email service or upload form imposes a tight file-size limit.

Shrink a PDF for faster uploading and delivery while keeping the document usable and balancing file size against readable quality for recipients.

How to use

  1. Choose the PDF you want to shrink; the interface states a maximum size of 64 MB for the file.
  2. Start the compression and let the operation finish without closing the tab while it is running.
  3. Download the compressed PDF, then open it to check that text and images remain usable.
  4. If the result meets your needs, keep that version; otherwise start again from the original file to avoid cumulative quality loss.

Example

A nonprofit needs to send a PDF brochure through a form that rejects oversized attachments. It compresses the file, downloads the lighter version and then checks that the pages are still readable before attaching the document.

Limits and formats

Where processing happens

The file is processed on the YOORfree server. It is uploaded, handled in memory without disk writes on the gateway, then deleted when the operation ends. The file and its result are kept for at most 15 minutes by default on the web server before deletion. Names and content are not logged, and no third party is involved.

Frequently asked questions

Does compression guarantee a precise final size?

No. The savings depend on images, fonts and the PDF structure. The tool reduces the file according to its content, but no exact percentage can be promised in advance. Always check the downloaded result.

How long does my PDF remain on the service?

The uploaded file and the result are kept for at most 15 minutes by default after the operation, then deleted. It does not remain available for a later download once that period has passed.

Can I compress several PDF files at once?

No, the tool handles one PDF per operation. If you have multiple documents, compress them separately and download each result before moving on to the next file.
