Draft a TypeScript interface from JSON

API teams use JSON to TypeScript to draft an interface from a sample response before adapting its fields to the project.

Draft a TypeScript interface from JSON, then refine the generated structure for your project. Use it for free in your browser, with no account required.

How to use

  1. Paste a JSON sample into the input area or import a compatible file.
  2. Click Generate to produce a TypeScript interface.
  3. The result shows types inferred from the properties in your sample.
  4. Review the fields, types and possible options, then copy the code.
  5. Use Erase to clear the fields and test another sample.

Example

You receive an API response and want to quickly type its content. Paste a JSON sample, generate the TypeScript interface, then integrate it into your project. You save time on basic type declarations.

Where processing happens

Everything happens in your browser: analysis and generation are local, with no data sent out. You can therefore work with snippets of real responses while keeping confidentiality.

Frequently asked questions

Are optional fields marked in the generated interface?

The tool relies on a single example. If a field is present, it is considered required. Fields missing from your sample cannot be guessed as optional. You will need to adjust them manually.

Can I generate interfaces for arrays of objects?

Yes, if your sample contains an array of objects, the tool infers the item type and reflects it in the interface. Check that the generated type matches the structure of each item.

Is the produced code directly compilable?

The generated TypeScript interface is syntactically correct in most cases, but it may contain overly broad types or names to adapt. Review and fix it before integrating it into your project.
