Calculate interest without compounding

Borrowers and investors use it to calculate interest without compounding when a loan or investment follows a simple rate.

Calculate interest without compounding. Everything runs in your browser, so the values you enter are never uploaded, shared, or stored.

How to use

  1. Enter the starting amount in the first field, using digits only and avoiding currency symbols or spaces inside the number.
  2. Type the annual interest rate as a percentage, then enter how long the period lasts in years.
  3. Run the calculation to see the simple interest and the final total clearly displayed.
  4. Check the result, then clear the fields if you want to compare another scenario.
  5. Write down or copy the answer before resetting, because no history is kept between calculations.

Example

If you enter a starting amount of 10000, an annual rate of 5 and a term of 3 years, the tool shows interest earned without compounding. Focus on the gap between the final total and the starting amount, since the interest is not added back each year to create more interest.

Where processing happens

Everything happens in your browser. The amount, rate and term stay on your device, and nothing is uploaded, shared or stored while you calculate. Closing the page also leaves no saved copy in the tool.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from compound interest?

Simple interest pays only on the original amount. Compound interest adds earned interest back to the balance, so later periods can earn interest on a larger sum. Over the same term, simple interest usually produces a lower total.

Can I enter months instead of years?

The term field is designed for years. For a shorter period, convert months into a decimal part of a year, such as six months as 0.5 years, and confirm that this matches the rules of your agreement.

Does the result include fees or taxes?

No. It only uses the principal, annual rate and term to estimate simple interest. Add any fees, insurance, taxes or other deductions separately when you need the real net cost or return.
